WinterLight Window Commission

WinterLight festival is an installation at Eynsham Emporium was part of a window installation and an outdoor installation in the trees. The installation in Eynsham Emporium, Oxford was created and designed by Loredana. The sculptures are made from acrylic, which has been manipulated using extreme heat. By projecting light through the sculptures, creates a variety of unique shadows providing a wintry atmosphere, constantly changing by evolving through the day and into the night. By placing the forms in the window space, offers the viewer a new experience in an everyday environment. This opens the question to the value we place on art and how it is viewed in society. The piece has two parts, with three additional sculptures hanging from the cherry tree outside. The inspiration for these sculptures was to create continuity with the piece inside. For these external forms, inspiration was drawn from chandeliers and icicles to relate directly with the internal work. The atmosphere this project creates, gives the viewer a real sense of wintertime, with the pieces unique aesthetics and seasonal glow.
